What’s included in the Wheel Rim Repair Work?
Time and Logistics
We offer loose wheel pick up (you take wheels off your vehicle) or book a time to drop your vehicle at our main workshop (most common appointment).
We’ll need 2-3 days to work on your wheels. Time varies a little based on extent of damage and paint finish. The paint curing process is an important step in the process and whilst we bake the wheels under special heat lamps, they still need time to cure before re-mounting the tires.
Wheel Repair Preparation
Preparation: We create a work ticket with the customer, vehicle and wheel information. This information is shared with technicians for wheel inspection and job plan. The wheel is dismounted from vehicle, tire bead broken and air and tire removed from rim for factory finishes. The rim is then hand and machined washed thoroughly before repair. In some cases the wheel is further prepared using sandblaster or aquablaster methods to further prepare for high quality paint finish application. Wheels that have been previously repaired or have heavy brake dust deposits can take longer to clean and prepare.
Rim Repair and Paint Procedure
Alloy Wheel Repair: Using various hand tools and specialist machinery, the wheel is repaired and refinished back to original wheel edging contours by a Wheel Repair Technician. This step may or may not require wheel straightening, our CNC diamond cutting machine, welding or other methods.
Paint and Clear Coat Finish: The rim is wash again and given final sanding before being painted. Paint procedures depend on client requested and our recommended paint finish to match the wheel design. With color changes or custom colors, we can provide a paint-out card in advance for the client. Our full-factory paint finish will done in our 24x12ft dedicated paint booth over multiple stages and cured under heat lamps.
Inspect and Mount: Once the wheel is cured, we conduct a final inspection, clean the rim, remount the tire, inflate and mount the wheel back onto your vehicle at the factory torque settings.
